Feed the City 3: Turkey Giveaway

Family Bizness and Partners Unite to Feed the City for the Third Year in a Row

Durham, NC, October 25, 2023 – In the heart of Durham, one man’s childhood struggles have transformed into an inspiring mission to combat food insecurity in the community he holds dear. Meet local hero, Carlos “LVitto” O’Briant, the CEO of Family Bizness LLC, an entertainment company that has taken it upon themselves to turn dreams into reality, not just through entertainment, but through heartfelt community service.

O’Briant, a true son of Durham, North Carolina, and the eldest of six siblings understands the hardships that life can throw at us. He vividly recalls the times when food was scarce, and money was tight. Those cold nights and hunger pangs have forever etched into his memory, motivating him to become a resilient leader and a dedicated advocate for his community.

In response to the rising inflation and the increasing cost of living following the global pandemic, which has not been coupled with increased salaries, O’Briant decided it was time to make a change. Through the “Feed the City” initiative, he has been determined to support and serve those in need, striving to be the resource he wished his family had during his adolescence.

Feed the City was born in 2020 to support individuals in the community who were facing hardships during the holiday season. They started by providing 10 fried turkeys and 100 hot food plates to the public that year. In 2021, they organized the inaugural Feed the City event, which saw an inspiring collaboration with Believe Community & Life Center, Gifts with Elegance, Elite Dollz of Faith, and Runnin’ Legacy, raising over 100 turkeys in just 30 days. In 2022, their partnership network expanded further, including Durham Bottling Co., Beats n Bars, Triangle Resources, Blacktoberfest, Spectacular Magazine, and others, allowing them to provide 201 turkeys and 200 hot meals to the community.

This year, the “Feed the City” initiative is determined to broaden its impact further by expanding sponsorships and enlisting partners with valuable resources. Their third annual event is scheduled for November 19, 2023, from 12 PM to 3 PM at SEEDS Community Garden, and they need your help to turn their dream into a reality. So far, they’ve secured commitments from SEEDS, Inc., Durham Bottling Co., Melanated Wine, Beats n Bars, Triangle Resources, Blacktoberfest, Spectacular Magazine, and many more. It’s a chance for the community to come together and help nourish the city during the holiday season.

In his heartfelt message, O’Briant stated, “It warms my heart each year to continue providing meals to individuals and families facing hardship. I hope that we can band together to get one step closer to achieving our goal of nourishing the people right here in our backyard and beyond.”

The funds raised for this event will be received and managed by the Believe Community & Life Center, a registered Non-Profit Organization and a longstanding partner in this incredible initiative. O’Briant and his team are calling on all individuals, businesses, and organizations to contribute through monetary and in-kind donations, volunteer their time, and help spread the word about this meaningful cause. As they say, there’s no donation too big or small, as every contribution serves as a building block to create a sanctuary for the city this holiday season.
